6 02 2012

It came, we concurred and it STUCK! 16th January 2012 was a day of reckoning for me and all those that celebrated with me my Graduation from College. It was the best culmination of 3 years of hard work and dedication.

It all started at 6am when i woke up to prepare for the unexpectedly great day. We drove to the University freedom square with my parents where the function was to take place. Like all other graduation days, the trip to freedom square was slow but enjoyable despite the traffic.

By 9am, i was already seated in the Graduates tent at freedom square just in time for the function as the Chancellor and his procession had just got in. The function started with award of PhD’s for the several candidates followed by Master Degree awards and finally Bachelors and Diploma’s.

I waited patiently in our tent for my name to be read and when it was finally read, it was all smiles and joy for me and all my fellow graduates as we raised our Graduant Hats up high for every one to see.

After my name was read, i left freedom square with my classmates and took our final class picture that would seal our journey together for last 3yrs in our memories forever. We were all jolly and looking good on this memorable day whose journey started on the same grounds during our fresher orientation 3 years ago.

My Classmates

At home everyone was waiting congratulate me.  Aunts, Uncles, cousins, Grand parents, Parents, Brothers, Sisters and Friends all made it to my big day and shared a very special luncheon with me to celebrate this big day.

Besides the celebrations, I also got to meet relatives I had no met in years. Uncles, Aunts and Cousins i last saw when i was a child all showed up on my day. It was emotional for me and I am so glad they came to celebrate with me.

16th January 2012 is day never to be forgotten for me.

Let me take this opportunity to thank my parents for facilitating my education and ensuring that they educate me to this stage and “I won’t disappoint them“. I also thank my siblings for all the support they gave me. Great thanks go out to all my relatives and friends that supported me and to those who came to witness my graduation. Finally, I would like to thank YOU the readers of this blog for all the loyalty, reading and various kinds of support you gave me.

It’s been an HONOUR for me to reach this great mile storm and I AM GOING TO ACHIEVE MORE.

At the time of posting, i am working as a Volunteer Biologist in aWildlifePark as you can read some of the previous posts. So i guess my career as a Biologist is just getting stated.

My future plans are to advance my career as a Biologist through getting hands on field experience and later going for further education for MSc and PhD. THE JOURNEY JUST GOT STARTED.

Before i sign off i would like to share somethings with you…..

This is my Transcript (I had to black out lots of sections in order to protect myself and for privacy concerns).

Your the Judge.

Finally, i would like to share the following songs with these special people…

Mysterious Girl (credit:

In a previous post, I listed certain girls that were mysterious and by Mysterious Girls I mean Girls that I meet “very” frequently either on my way home or in the library or when going for classes and yet I don’t know them personally or even their names (although I get to snoop around and find out names of some).

For one to qualify to be a mysterious girl, they have to fulfill some or all of the following requirements;

  1. Have to meet them frequently (like 3 times a week )
  2. Should not  be a Classmate
  3. Should be Female (of course)
  4. Have to see them for more than one semester (except for those I meet very very frequently)

The girls that have fulfilled some or all of the above requirements are;

I respect their privacy so i won’t mention any names. I only identify them by certain features such as where I meet them, where they stay or how they look like.

  • IDA Girl / Pretty Smile

She’s been one of the highlights of this semester. She’s probably the mysterious girl I’ve met most this semester. IDA is a section of the Library where she studies from and coincidentally i study from there too.

What’s so unique about her is that we always seat a few tables away from each other or sometimes we sit on the same table. I don’t know how it happens (because sometimes I don’t see her when I am taking a seat. I only realize she is there when I am seated.

You might say it’s pure coincidence but I think it’s more than coincidence. We also make lots of eye contact and sometimes we can’t avoid it. We have met a couple of times on my way to or from the Library.

I know her name (got it by chance) and she’s doing the Food Science and Technology program (so we are both Biologists).  I am her friend on Facebook . She’s pretty and yeah, she has a pretty smile.

She is also one hell of a focused girl. She can spend the whole day at the Library reading (just like me).

  • Former High school Friend

You might ask, ‘what is a former friend doing on my list of mysterious Girls’. Well the answer is simple. She’s a “former” friend which means we are no longer friends. We fell out in High School so we seized to be friends.

I thought I would  never see her again but now she’s back. She is at Law School (same university, different programmes) and she reads a lot from the Library Law section. The Law section is next to the IDA section (favorite section in the Library) so we more so read from the same area (same floor). So I get to see her a lot.

She also stays in a Hall that’s along the route I take when I am heading home so we get to meet a long there too.

  • Computer Lab Girl

She is another girl I’ve met like hundreds of times. First I  used to meet her in the Computer Lab at the Library. Now I meet her everywhere. I meet her on the way home, in several sections of the library and in the computer labs.

I don’t know the program she is doing nor her name. She is very Mysterious indeed!

  • Law Girl 1 /Very Focused

This is another girl from Law school and very focused. She reads a lot of books and I guess that is how I noticed her.

She study’s from the law section so we meet a lot.

I don’t know her name but I at least know her program.

  • Fisheries Girl

There is lots of history between me and this Mysterious girl. First I know her name and she does the Fisheries and Aquaculture program (both Biologists).

We both attended the Beach Bash and we got to do lots of playing in the water (separately though). We also make lots of eye contact. We belong to the same department (Zoology) so we meet frequently.

  • Conservation Biology Girl

I must confess that she shouldn’t have made it to this list since we’ve been classmates before. But because I knew her before we became classmates (I think she’s the first girl I noticed at the Faculty), so she deserves to be a Mysterious girl.

I know her name and she does the Conservation Biology program (both Biologists). I am her friend on Facebook and I think she knows my name.

We actually know each other personally since we’ve been classmates twice.

  • Tall JICA girl

She’s one girl I never knew was Mysterious till recently. I meet her very frequently and she’s very tall.

JICA is a name of the building that houses the Biochemistry Department, Faculty of Science Admistration offices and lecture rooms.

I don’t know her name and or program. But I suspect she’s doing Statistics or a similar program

  • Vet Girl / Meet her on the way

Vet girl is one of a kind because first I meet her on precisely the same road very frequently at different times of the day.

I think she belongs to the Veterinary faculty although I don’t know the program that she does.

She’s very tall and I think I know her name (got it by chance). Since she’s in Vet faculty & vet is for Biologists, we both are Biologists just like most of the other girls.

  • Pretty Girl / Meet her around Physics

My last Mysterious girl for this part of the series is a girl who should probably not be on this list but I can’t avoid adding her because of how frequently we meet.

I don’t know her name or her program. I just meet her “very” frequently in several locations especially around the Physics department.

She’s very pretty and i am hoping to meet her again next semester so i get to know more about her.

Those are some of the Mysterious Girls that stood out a lot. As you might notice, most of them are Biologists and others are studying to become Attorneys. And others are very Mysterious!

However, there are lots more soon to be Mysterious Girls but these have not yet fulfilled all the requirements but once they do I will be sure to add them to Mysterious Girls 3.

Mysterious Girl

I love College because of certain types of girls that i call “MYSTERIOUS GIRLS”.

I define “MYSTERIOUS GIRLS” as those girls that you keep seeing frequently and yet you don’t know them by name. All you know about them is how they look like and the program that they do or where they stay. That is a Mysterious Girl for me.

So i always ask myself, “Why do i keep seeing them??” Is it just COINCIDENCE or FATE?? I guess only time can answer that.

One thing i have noted about most mysterious girls is that they always find me wearing the same clothes and i always meet them in the same places. Say for example if i am returning home from the library i always meet a certain mysterious girl at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. There is another that i always meet in the Library. I always wonder if this can only be attributed to chance.

The following girls have been the most mysterious during my time at college. Since i don’t know their names, i have given them my own names to help me identify them. The names are based on where they come from or where they stay or the programs that they do.

  • Kenyan Girl

Kenyan girl is my mysterious girl number 1 and i call her Kenyan girl because i think she is Kenyan by nationality. I don’t know the program that she does but i know that she stays in the same area like me and must be a finalist (doing her last year).

I first saw her in the Library Computer Lab during my 1st year and she was asking whether she would use the computer i was on after i was done. But i told her i was still using it for a long time so it was useless if she waited. She looked annoyed when she left but since that day i have been meeting her more often.

  • The Statistician

The second mysterious girl is a statistician. I call her Statistician because she does statistics and she is in the same year like me. The first time i saw her was during the second semester of my year 1. They have lectures in our department and i recognize her by her eyes (they are quite unique).

She stays in a hostel that’s next to my place and i always meet her when i am going to the Library or returning from there.

  • Africa Girl

My third mysterious girl is a girl i have been seeing since my first semester in college. She also does statistics and i call her Africa Girl because she resides in Africa Hall.

She is unique because unlike other girls, i meet her in different places like the Library, The Biochemistry Building and when she is returning to her hall.

  • The Lawyer

I call the fourth Mysterious girl Lawyer because i think she does Law since i always see her in the Law section of the Library.

I first saw her this Semester (Semester 2, Year 2) and i have now been seeing her throughout this semester.

  • The Ethnobotanist

This mysterious girl is i guess the first mysterious girl i saw when i joined college in 2008. At the time she was in the same department like me but we were doing different programmes. However now i am not in that department but i still see her.

She does the program Ethnobotany (plant medicine) and we joined college in the same year. I first saw her during Orientation and i now i see her frequently.

  • Biochemist

Biochemist is probably the one i am most familiar to since we are in the same department (Biochemistry) but she is a year higher than me. If she doesn’t have retakes, she is probably done by now and i might not see her again.

She is Kenyan by nationality.

Those are my Mysterious Girls for now. I still have one year to complete college so i am certain i will be seeing more mysterious girls.
